Knowledge

Knowledge proliferation occurs with time passing. European politics, philosophy, science, and communications were radically reoriented during the course of the “long 18th century” (1685-1815). A part of a movement labeled as the “Age of Reason”, or simply the Enlightenment. Enlightenment thinkers in Europe questioned traditional authority. And they embraced the notion that humanity could be improved through rational change. The Enlightenment produced numerous books, essays, inventions, scientific discoveries, laws, wars, and revolutions. The American and French Revolutions were directly inspired by Enlightenment ideals. And they respectively marked the peak of its influence and the beginning of its decline. The Enlightenment ultimately gave way to 19th-century Romanticism. (Read)

Inspiration and knowledge proliferation

The world is about to enter a new era of “enlightenment”. All the new developments during the last 50 years or so point in that direction. One of the tools facilitating rapid development is the computer. The computer has basically changed the world. And the “change” has only begun. Our knowledge and communications capabilities will expand and improve dramatically. The second component aiding is current Social Media. Billions of pages are created daily.

The story of Adam and Eve

Adam ate the forbidden fruit. This caused a loss of innocence. Right then and there knowledge began to develop and proliferate. The figures in my painting are an appropriation, borrowed from Albrecht Durer’s famous etching of Adam and Eve. It took many generations for the current knowledge to evolve. But the process took quite a long time. As we moved away from the “dark ages” the skies brightened and finally, an explosion of knowledge, and a full clarity of all things. The age of Technology has arrived.

The painting description

The “Knowledge proliferation” painting is an attempt to visually express these thoughts. Mankind advanced through the pages of history. Knowledge and information advanced. And finally, an explosion of information occurred. The computer era began. As a result, more and more knowledge will be proliferated. The numbers in the painting represent the computer’s  binary code, the computer language using only two numbers 0 and 1 to “speak the language”. In conclusion, the “love” word was embedded in the painting in binary code using the two numbers 0 and 1.
