Photography has almost an infinite number of important reasons of being part of our lives. Some are listed in the following post.

Why should you photograph?

Some photographs tell who we are as individuals. This art allows us to express ourselves visually. It allows anyone to capture an important moment. With a camera in hand, you memorialize and also communicate. People can keep a Photo Journal Life. You can create, and showcase an artistic style.
And most importantly, using this medium allows you to visually express something that can’t be said in words.

Be nostalgic. And search for beauty. Also document anything like a moment in time, history of places and things the way they are now and will not be forever. Most people want a document of moments in their life or their family events. And photography is the perfect tool.

You can make digital art or send someone a souvenir. Get inspired. Document the environment and enhance people emotions.

You can make people think. Connect socially and inspire others with your creativity.
Some photographers want to capture reality while others want to reproduce it in another way by creating interpretations of reality.

Photography as a field of work alone has created an almost infinite number of articles. They all point to the importance of this field. And many describe the reasons for the photographer-writer to engage in this activity. The article ” Why Photography?” by Steve Coleman is very indicative.

In conclusion, photography is also an optimal tool to record perceptions, entertain, educate, advertise and be artistic.

Photography and art

Photography was a tool for just recording visual images. Many image types (photographs) were recorded. These included images of people, nature, an event, or anything else. Later on, artistically inclined individuals started experimenting with photography with the intent of creating a so-called “Fine art photography”.

Originally, photographers used artistic techniques in the lab. These techniques had to be paired with exposing the film correctly, to begin with. They would “burn” or “dodge” while developing. They also used in camera techniques, to capture every possible detail of the scene. Famed photographer Ansel Adams developed the “Zone system” to determine the best exposure. It was a photographic technique for determining optimal film exposure and development, formulated by Ansel Adams and Fred Archer.

But the film period is pretty much history. Artists can capture now images with a digital camera, and apply their artistic skills by using software programs to create any artistic effect they desire. Some purists still use film.

The digital era

Many artists use photography as a tool in their workflow. Painters have used photography for a long time to create their art. In the modern era, some artists combine the medium with other media to create so-called mixed media artworks. One such example is the “collage” where several photographs and other elements can be combined. Photography can also be used to sketch a painting with the help of a computer. This is a tremendous boon to painters who wish to analyze several schemes before committing paint to canvas. Read more about the digital process in the “Digital Art” article on the artgreeT BLOG.
